In December 1976, this UFO appeared directly over the campus of Sonoma
State University, near San Francisco. Seen simultaneously from the
air and by hundreds of witnesses on the ground, photographed and videotapes,
this ranks among the best documented (although least well-known) UFO sightings
on record. As Ted Owens had predicted, the photograph was published
on the front page of one of the local newspapers. The event occurred
during an exhibit by the art department of aerial artwork. The pilot,
artist and professor Steven Poleskie, was as surprised by the UFO in his
airspace as were the many observers. Poleskie is flying the airplane
with smoke trailing out the back. The UFO is a white spot at about
10 o'clock from the airplane.
